A few days ago we arrived at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, located in the north of Houston. This imposing city welcomed us with the perfect weather, not to hot and not to cold, something around 68ª F…We came from Medellin, Colombia, known as the neverending spring city which lately was not very sunny.
During our first days, we decided to get to know more about the city and its culture. We discovered that there are two important areas: Downtown and Uptown. Both are relatively small area but full of skyscrapers and nice traffic. In our tour, we went to some beautiful places such as River Oaks District and Upton Park, where we did some shopping.
We also got to try a local delicacy, the Vietcajun from Crawfish & Noodles. It has Crap topped with an amazing spicy/ hot garlic butter and lemongrass sauce: a flavourful combination and a must-try in Houston.
Some important facts that we also want to share about this beautiful city is that it is considered one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in the U.S. with more than 145 spoken languages, just after New York and Los Angeles. Houston is the major city in the Lone Star State and has a quarter of the population of the country. 19 institutions make part of the Houston Museums District.
On Tuesday, we started with the 2022 Business Matchmaking Forum at the Hyatt Regency. This event gathered over a thousand businesses from all over the U.S. The first thing on the agenda was an academic event, where we had the opportunity to know firsthand from an experts panel about key topics such as: Building a Bridge Colombia – USA, United States’ Business Culture, The Future of Modern Sales in the U.S., and some others.
Today, Wednesday, we are having a busy day. We started with these 30 mins. meetings at 9 a.m. and will keep it going until 6:00 p.m. Here, we are meeting with buyers from different sectors and cities, who showed interest in our Custome Software Development, DevOps, and Staffing Solutions. Without any doubt, these have been some tough and hard-working days, but we have had the opportunity to meet amazing people, whom we really hope to keep in touch and start long-lasting comercial relationships.
For Friday, we are traveling to Austin to take part in another business and learning event hosted by Procolombia and Capital Factory. Here we will listen to the commercial pitches from the companies that took part in the Go To Market Program.
We can’t underestimate Austin’s potential, which has become an important Tech Center and a more affordable alternative for companies that look for something like Silicon Valley.
During the afternoon, we will have the time to visit some our dear clients and start conversations with important institutions and organizations that will add to our venture and join us as important partners.
